Members and Associates, 2007 has begun with change and growth for PIBA. We have a variety of new events scheduled for the coming year, our offices have moved, and our corporation management has changed. We are looking forward to the new and inviting changes, and hope you are as excited as we are!

2. Upcoming PIBA Events
Here are a few of our events coming soon! Most of our programs that are a minimum of three hours have qualified you for Certification Maintenance (CM) points, which are requested from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) for EH&S Events. The Board of Certified Safety Professionals offers Continuation of Certification (COC) points at a rate of 0.625 for every 1 ABIH CM point. If you would like more information on any of these meetings, please feel free to contact our staff with questions.
Radiation Safety - Responsibilities of the Industrial Hygienist / Safety Engineer with Focus on the Radiation Safety Officer
This day long workshop will focus on some of the responsibilities of the Radiation Safety Officer including:
Our Guest Speaker for this event will be George Anastas. As a Certified Health Physicist, he has been providing radiation safety and occupational safety training and consultation in the Bay Area since 1990. During this time, he has been published extensively and presented scientific treatises on all areas of his expertise focusing particularly on risk assessment and risk amelioration. Mr. Anastas will speak to the subject material, but welcomes your questions and interests to guide the discussion. SB 14 Source Reduction Workshop
PIBA is pleased to cosponsor the 2007 SB 14 Source Reduction
Compliance Training with Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC).
The training will be led by DTSC's Source Reduction Unit staff and is
designed to assist businesses with the preparation of their 2006 source
reduction documents.
California businesses subject to the Hazardous Waste Source Reduction and
Management Review Act of 1989 (SB 14) are required to prepare a Source
Reduction Evaluation Review and Plan, a Hazardous Waste Management Performance
Report, and a Summary Progress Report (SPR). Subject businesses must
prepare/update these three documents by September 1, 2007 and maintain them on
site. In addition, generators are required to submit the SPR to DTSC by
September 1, 2007. During this workshop, DTSC staff will guide attendees
through the steps to prepare their 2006 SB 14 documents.

4. Job Postings Update
One of the services PIBA offers is a Job Posting section where Employers can reach out to potential Employees within the industry. We currently have a new position available in our reorganized Job Postings section, and we hope to add more on a consistent basis. 5. Change of Management
As of January 1st the PIBA Board of Directors has engaged the services of Milde, Rollins and Associates, LLC (MRA), to manage the day-to-day operation of the association. They are a full service Association Management Company with several non-profit clients and over 20 years of experience in the business. They bring a wealth of knowledge, resources and professionalism to our organization. Welcome MRA and specifically Jeff Milde, Executive Director and Trevor Hinkley, Project Coordinator.
6. Membership Renewals
We appreciate the patience of our members as we transition to our new management company. They are working very hard to come up to speed just as soon as possible.
In late 2006 membership invoices had been sent out to several of our member companies up for renewal. An acknowledgement of those renewals will be sent in the next two weeks. If you have not received confirmation of your membership renewal by February 16th, please contact Trevor at piba@piba.org to confirm payment. Thank you for your understanding.
